Evidence-based, Individualized, mindful psychotherapy for children, teens, and adults.
Welcome! Thank you for visiting my website. My name is Meghan Howe, and I am licensed clinical social worker, which is a long way of saying I am licensed and credentialed in the state of California to provide psychotherapy. After working in the Pediatric Bipolar Disorders Program at the Stanford University School of Medicine for 12 years, I left to start my own private practice in 2016. I specialize in mood and anxiety disorders, such as depression, bipolar, school refusal, and social anxiety. Additionally, I work with families with children or teens with autoimmune or inflammation based disorders such as PANS or PANDAS. While working at Stanford I noticed that families in crisis often had significant difficulty coming into the office for regular appointments. So, I created a treatment program in which I go into the home to work with children, teens, adults, and families. I love it! Maybe not the driving. Going into the home allows children who otherwise are home bound to participate in therapy, and allows families with busy schedules to convene for much needed family therapy sessions. Furthermore, in the home I am able to witness family dynamics that otherwise might not be shown in an office. I use these observations together with my experience in CBT, DBT, mindfulness, Family Focused Therapy, and exercise therapy to create an individualized program of therapy designed to leverage strengths, shore up weaknesses, and achieve a higher level of functioning and happiness.
